    Description

PLEASE READ! You are buying as is! Please ask any questions before bidding. I am not a dealer or a store owner just a doll lover downsizing in retirement. These two dolls are both Madame Alexander’s from the 1950s and 40s. The one with the long hair has an “A” on the back of her head and is marked “made in the USA” on the back. The one with the short hair and dress is marked AC on the back of the head. She is a walker and the walking function still works. Her body shows wear and tear with scuffs on her feet and some small scuffs on her arms and back. The biggest problem is that there is a crack over her right eye. Her eyes still work she has all her original face paint but the doll seems to have been left in the sun as the Color is pale. I do not know if the dress is original. But it is taffeta and is what I would call in poor condition. It has some small holes in the skirt left. The sleeves and bodice are yellowed with age and the lace trim has pulled loose and some is missing off the sleeve cuffs. Her hair is in bad need of a new styling but is the original sewn crinoline wig. She has all her fingers and toes and her stringing seems to be strong and posable. The dress has fading throughout. This doll does have odor, but maybe you know how to arrest that. It is not super strong but it is there. The doll with the long hair is a walker also but the walking mechanism doesn’t work quite right. Her body is clean but does have some scuffs and marks especially around the feet. Her long hair is a reddish blond and is in need of styling but it is the original wig of sewn crinoline. There is very little glue holding the wig on and much of the glue has come loose and shows when you lift her hair. Her face still has some original paint but it is quite pale. It looks as though someone touched up her lips and missed see pictures. Her hazel colored eyes still work well. I would guess this doll too was exposed to the sun as her coloring is quite pale. This doll also has odor; it’s not severe but yet it is there. Maybe you have something that works to stop the odors; I haven’t figured it out yet. These two dolls would be great for parts or good restoration projects. If you should win this auction please pay within three days and thanks so very much for reading!
